Watch the Roland Garros French Open Tennis Tournament

Roland-Garros 2011 is the official Android app for this year’s French Open tennis tournament.

  • Version: 1.0.3
  • Size: 10.59MB (no apps2SD)
  • Category: Sports
  • Price: Free

The Roland-Garros Android app is your one-stop-shop for all the latest scores, videos, and live updates from the French Open in Paris. While matches are in progress, you have a couple options; watch it live or listen to the play-by-play. If you’re not connected via WiFi or 3G/4G, you might be better off checking out the Progress/Results tab to see match scores as they’re updated every point. The News tab contains daily tournament summaries, upset headlines, and previews for some of the most exciting upcoming matches.

This app also has unprecedented utility for those lucky enough to be attending in person. From the More tab, you’ll find maps for getting to Roland Garros and finding your way around once you’re inside. The “access map” displays nearby metro, bus, rent-a-bike, and shuttle locations around the stadium. It also provides the closest parking spots as well as walking routes. The “stadium” map displays entrance gates, restaurants, restrooms, gift shops, and more. Surprisingly however, stadium names and outside court numbers are not labeled. It would be incredibly handy to be able to click a court and view the day’s match schedule.

  • Engaging, organized user-interface
  • Live video, play-by-play radio, and scores
  • Interactive stadium maps and visitor’s guide
  • Real-time breaking news, photos, etc.
  • Available in French and English

Areas for improvement:

  • Detailed match articles and analysis (in addition to the scores)
  • Maps need zoom functionality

Conclusion: The best Android app for staying up-to-date with the 2011 French Open. If you’re a tennis enthusiast, this app is for you!

  1. Installed it on my “HTC Desire HD” with latest firmware:

GOOD program, but it is NOT apps2SD enabled (as you stated in your review)! :-(

    • @henklbr Thanks for catching that! I guess it was wishful thinking that it would have apps2SD enabled because of its 11+ MB size.

  2. hey, how do I get you guys to review an app?

  3. Good app but doesn’t give the points in each game. Only updates the score by games and sets instead of points, games and sets.

To really appreciate this app I think you’d be best to be at Roland Garros. (I wish)
