Top Android App: Snowstorm Weather Widget

Snowstorm Weather widget is a great app for the homescreen of your Android phone.  Based on your location, you can get information about the current weather and temperature as well as future forecasts.

Application: Snowstorm Weather Widget

Version: 1.3.002
Size: 358KB
Category: News/Weather
Price: Free
Overall Score: 4.7/5
User Interface: 4.5/5
Ease of Use: 4.5/5
Customizability: 5/5
Originality: 4.5/5
Indispensability: 5/5.
You can choose to make a widget in three available sizes, 1×1, 2×1, and 4×1.  When you initially create the widget you have an extensive list of options which allows you to customize the app to exactly what you want.  Celcius or Fahrenheit? Metric or Imperial units?  You have the option.  Additionally, you can choose the colors of the text to best fit your current wallpaper.  As for determining your location, I have found the GPS option to be the most accurate although using WiFi/Cell towers is accurate enough for determining weather in your area.  Play around with the rest of the settings to fit your preferences.
Overall, this app is easy to setup, highly customizable, and looks great on your home screen.  I like this widget much more than the standard widget that comes with the Weather Channel app.  Try it out!

  1. How do you select widget size?

  2. When you make a new widget by long pressing the home screen, you have three different size options, 1×1, 2×1, and 4×1. :)

Looks like you have to set it from the get-go. If you make one the wrong size, just delete it and make another.

  3. My-Cast Weather is 10x better than this one. A lot of these are really buggy these days. I’ve tried dozens. Mycast is the only one that really works. On top of that it requests FAR fewer permissions than most others and is extremely accurate. With TWC, WeatherBug and a whole host of others suddenly starting to force close I was very happy to discover My-Cast

And, on top of all that…. it seems to be very easy on the battery compared to about 90% of the other weather app/widgets out there.

  4. I will try My-Cast Weather, but I am currently (and for a while now) using Go Weather. It is better than what I had been using before.

    • Update: can’t find it in my Market: OS 2.2
